About Hewston Higgins

Built around worlds children want to enter.

Hewston Higgins is a children’s publishing and learning brand created by Jonathan Hewston, bringing books, characters, classroom resources and school programmes into one connected universe.

Why it exists

Important ideas should not have to feel like an instruction sheet.

The brand began with a simple creative principle: turn routines, feelings, learning differences and early academic skills into places children can see, explore and remember.

Cal moves between worlds while staying a familiar guide. Beeazy Maths brings that same visual ambition into early number work. First Steps turns everyday milestones into short adventures for younger children. The fiction ranges allow the worlds to grow with the reader.

Creator

Jonathan Hewston

Jonathan develops the characters, book concepts, visual worlds, learning journeys and school programme materials behind Hewston Higgins.

The aim is not to replace teachers, parents or specialist support. It is to give them more imaginative starting points for conversation, practice and shared learning.

The publishing pathway

Different ages. One connected brand.

Children can meet the brand through a routine, a feeling, a maths problem or a fantasy story—and move into different ranges as they grow.

1

First Steps

Magical early-years stories around teeth, potty routines, dressing, bath-time and nursery.

2

Cal worlds

Story-led colouring adventures around ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, anxiety, confidence, friendship and resilience.

3

Learning worlds

Beeazy Maths and future reading/science ranges turn curriculum ideas into visual adventures.

4

Older fiction

Cal Adventure Novels and The Jelly Bean Emporium take the storytelling into longer-form fantasy.

For schools

Books are only one part of the offer.

Class programmes, teacher resources, printable follow-up materials, visits and digital membership are designed to help schools keep using the ideas after the story ends.
